Le Hit on M6: a hit machine

In 1995, Gilles Verlant invited me to meet him at the Brasserie Savy on rue Bayard, opposite RTL radio. Gilles was a renowned journalist, who has taken part in the ‘Rapido’ and ‘Nulle Part Ailleurs’ programmes, but was best known for being the official biographer of many singers including Serge Gainsbourg, David Bowie and Daniel Balavoine. When he asked me to join his writing team, I didn’t hesitate for a second. For a year, I was to write for him, along with other writers, the texts for the daily Hit Machine on M6, presented by Ophélie Winter and Yves Noël. In all, I wrote around forty programmes. Gilles Verlant sadly passed away on 20 September 2013 at the age of 56.
